We were fortunate to see many events in the 5 months we were in The Philippines.
KADAYAWAN FESTIVAL  - DAVAO
The highlight was The Annual Kadayawan Festival in Davao which is a week long event. We hired a hotel room in the city for the week so we could attend most of the week's activities which ranged from street parades, float parades, night entertainment, music & bands, opening & closing ceremonies, tribal competitions, Miss Kadayawan Pageant,  food festivals, street stalls and durian outlets, etc...
An estimated 250 000 people visited the event. We saw around 30 westerners only (and of that, 25 were cruising yachtie friends)



Security was high during the opening ceremony as president Rodrigo Duterte was attending. We were fortunate to sit directly behind him during the ceremony.









 






Did we stand out as the only westerners there? - Absolutely...!!!
